UP Yoddha vs Haryana Steelers: Match Preview, PKL

Match Details:

Match – UP Yoddha vs Haryana Steelers

Date –  6 December 2018, 8:00 PM IST

Venue – Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium, Delhi

Match overview:

Interzonal challenge week continues in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 6 as two North Indian sides battle it out in Delhi. The UP Yoddha will take to the mat against the Haryana Steelers at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium on the penultimate day of the Delhi leg of the competition.

UP Yoddha have been struggling in Zone B and are at the bottom of the standings with just three wins from 16 matches this season. They have lost five matches in a row coming into this fixture. Their season has been plagued due to injury issues to top raiders Rishank Devadiga and Prashant Kumar Rai. The side will hope to get back on the winning horse against the Haryana Steelers but they have their task cut out.

Haryana Steelers also are in an inconsistent run of form lately as they struggle to keep pace for the playoffs position in Zone A with just one spot up for grabs (U Mumba and Gujarat Fortunegiants have secured qualification). The raiding unit has been their shining spot and the Monu Goyat-Vikas Khandola partnership will be key for them to get the win over a struggling UP Yoddha side.

My dream XI

Raiders
Vikas Khandola (16 Cr), Monu Goyat (15.5 Cr) and Shrikant Jadhav (15.5 Cr) form the raiding unit of the Dream XI Fantasy Squad.

The Haryana Steelers’ raiding duo have been working well lately despite the team’s inconsistent run. Both Goyat and Khandola have racked up a healthy tally of raid points and will be tipped to perform well against a struggling UP Yoddha side. Shrikant Jadhav has recovered after a mid-season slump and been the only potent raider in the squad after the injuries to Rishank Devadiga and Prashant Kumar Rai.

Defenders
Nitesh Kumar (14.5 Cr), Sunil (13.5 Cr) and Sudhanshu Tyagi (11.5 Cr) form the defensive lineup of the Dream XI Fantasy Squad.

The stand-in UP Yoddha skipper Nitesh Kumar has been one of the most impressive defenders this season on the right corner. He has picked up tackle points at a consistent rate despite the side struggling to hit form. Sunil plays the right corner in the Haryana defence and has done well in his debut season in a new-look Haryana lineup. Sudhanshu Tyagi is another young Haryana defender who can sneak in a couple of tackle points from the cover position for the side.

All-Rounders

Narender (13.5 Cr) form the all-rounders of the Dream XI Fantasy Squad.

Along with Nitesh Kumar, Narender has been the standout defender in the UP Yoddha side with his ability to pick up strong tackle points from the cover position.

Captain and vice-captain: Monu Goyat and Shrikant Jadhav

Alternative: Vikas Khandola and Monu Goyat

Player to watch out for: Monu Goyat

The Haryana Steelers’ skipper will be hoping to continue his positive momentum from the past few games and get a much-needed win over the UP Yoddha side to keep Haryana in the running for a playoffs spot.
