Venue

Judging the pitch at the SBNS is like choosing from a box of chocolates – you never know what you are going to get next. In some matches, there have been high-scoring encounters but in most cases, it has been a very slow surface.

Match overview

After winning their first game of the tournament against defending champions Rangpur Riders, Chittagong Vikings lost their next encounter against the Sylhet Sixers by just 5 runs.

It was among the very few matches which entertained the fans in this edition, which has largely been a disappointment thus far.
On the other hand, Khulna Titans are yet to win in this tournament. They have already played three games and have lost all of them as Mahmudullah Riyad is yet to find a winning combination for his team.

My dream XI

WK

Mohammad Shahzad was not able to set the explosives off in the last game against Sylhet. He scored only 6 runs but scored it off a direct six, which shows the type of batsman that he is.

Batsmen

Cameron Delport was the second-highest run scorer for his team in the last game. His 22-ball 38 gave his team a fine start, which they, unfortunately, couldn’t make use of.

Meanwhile, Junaid Siddique was the most dangerous batsman from Khulna against Rajshahi in the last game. He seems to have adapted his game for this format and he scored 23 runs from 18 balls in the previous encounter.

Paul Stirling is a devastating batsman at the top of the order and also a decent bowler. He scored 16 from 14 in the last game while also taking a wicket in his two overs.

All-rounders

Mahmudullah Riyad hasn’t been at his best in the tournament thus far. He is yet to play a strong innings with the bat but nevertheless, he has been decent with the ball. He gave away only 11 runs in his two overs against the Kings.

Ariful Haque is an international regular in T20 for Bangladesh. He is a good option with the bat in the lower order and is a tremendous fielder.
Finally, the last spot has been taken by Chittagong Vikings superstar Sikandar Raza. The Zimbabwean is an excellent all-rounder and did well with the bat in the last game against the Sixers, scoring 37 from just 28 balls.

Bowlers

The bowling attack of the Vikings has been good so far. They might not have been able to break through the Sixers outright in the last game, but they have all been very good.

Robbie Frylinck has been the best of the lot. In the last match, he was at his brilliant best as he took three wickets with the ball and then went on to bat to make 44 from 24 balls, taking Chittagong very close to a win.

Abu Jayed and Nayeem Islam have also been very handy with the ball. Young Nayeem Hasan was outstanding in the previous game as he gave away only 20 runs in his four overs to take a single wicket.

Jayed wasn’t at his best in the last match and was expensive to give away 34 from three overs. He, however, has the talent to bounce back and can turn the game with a spell.

Zahir Khan has been the trickiest customer to face for the Rajshahi opponents in this edition of the BPL thus far. The Afghan star took a wicket while giving away only 18 runs from four overs the last time around.

Captain and vice-captain: Sikandar Raza and Robbie Frylinck

Player to watch out for: Sikandar Raza

The Zimbabwean all-rounder got back his batting touch against Rajshahi Kings in the last match. While he might not have won the game for his team, he can gain confidence from that innings.
